World-renowned dancers and musicians,  Cindrelul Junii Sibiului are this year's special guests and featured entertainment for the entire festival! They are traveling to us direct from Sibiu, in the heart of Romania's central-western "Transylvania" Province. We are honored to have them with us, and you will soon see why their reputation as world-class performers is a truly fitting title!

As official representatives of the county of Sibiu, the 2007 European "Capital of Culture", the ensemble first visited the Cathedral in the summer of 2008. Through the diligence of our organizing committee, we are excited to welcome them back, and hope you will offer them true Romanian-American (& Canadian) hospitality during their time with us!

The orchestra will play a wide variety of traditional Romanian dance melodies. Familiar rhythms from Transilvania, Banat, Oltenia, Maramures, Moldova, etc will entertain you! Pairing these popular sounds with American and European (modern) by their DJ will be sure to satisfy any member of the audience as they move on the dance floor!

If you are unfamiliar with some of the basic, traditional folk dances of Romania, we invite you to take a quick lesson from some of our dancing couples during the weekend and then join us for the "invertita", "hora" and more!

and SPECIAL PERFORMANCES BY...

Founded in 2005, Detroit's own "Romanasul" Ensemble will offer another of its popular performances during the festival. In the past, the group has performed original renditions of traditional village weddings, dances from various regions of Romania and more.

This ensemble is primarily made up of faithful from here at the Cathedral, but others from around the city also count among its members and anyone is welcomed to join. Recently, several younger members have brought new life this vibrant ensemble and we are sure that you will enjoy their performance. They are directed by (Preoteasa) Ramona Pop. After their performance, join them on the dance floor or for a photo in their national costume! More information on the group is available by calling the Cathedral Parish Office (248/569-4833).

We are pleased to welcome back the "Rapsodia" Romanian Dance Ensemble from our neighbor to the south, Windsor Ontario Canada! This "sister" group of Romanasul is based primarily out of St George Cathedral there.

Our thanks to the directors and members of the group for their dedication, cooperation and perseverance in preserving and promoting our Romanian heritage!
