HAVE YOU PAID YOUR
MEMBERSHIP?
DID
YOU PAY YOUR PARISH PLEDGE for 2008?
With only two months left until
the end of this year many members did not yet pay their parish
dues. It is known that each member is asked to offer a “Pledge”
to the parish in order to be a voting member and the minimum
amount set by the Parish Assembly is $150.00 per member. We
kindly ask and pray that you will honor your financial
obligation at this time. (Note, the parish itself is required to
submit $60.00 to the Episcopate for each member.) Show your
gratitude to the good Lord for all he does for you.

FR LAURENCE & DELEGATION VISIT ROMANIA
Through the work of the Joint Dialogue Commission (JDC) of our
diocese, which has been working with representatives of the
patriarchal diocese here over more than the last ten years,
discussions and normalizing of relations continue to develop. A
letter addressed to the Romanian Patriarchate last year (prior
to the falling asleep of Patriarch +TEOCTIST), requested a
direct meeting to clarify and hopefully reach true agreement on
various points of historical discrepancy and the treatment of
our departed hierarchs throughout the communist reign in
Romania. Our JDC, of which Fr Laurence is the chairman, along
with Archbishop Nathaniel will be in Bucharest from February
22-March 1 to meet directly with representatives of the
Patriarchate. Patriarch DANIEL has responded favorably to our
wish for what we hope will be a fruitful meeting.
We ask Our Lord to watch over the Archbishop, Fr Laurence, and
the delegation and grant them safe travels. We also pray that
the Holy Spirit will guide them for a productive meeting with
Patriarch DANIEL and our Mother Church. , and we pray that steps
will continue toward potentially uniting the Romanian Orthodox
Faithful in North America as a true effort in pursuing a
stronger Orthodox identity in the Americas.

COUNCIL PRESIDENT SAYS "FAREWELL"
Due to a job
relocation, current Cathedral Council President Mircea Rusu with
his wife jessica will be relocating to London, England in the
first week of October. Mr Rusu informed the council at their
latest meeting of the transfer and the council sadly accepted
his resignation, offering words of encouragement and applause to
Mitch at the close of the meeting. The Rusu's plan to remain
part of the Cathedral family and intend to return to Detroit in
a few years when the work obligation has been completed. We wish
both Mircea and Jessica "drum bun" and pray for their safe
return to us!
