"BALUL MĂRŢIŞORULUI"
17 February 2007
At least 250 took part and danced the
night away in celebration of this special Romanian custom before the
start of Great Lent. Music by Dacia Orchestra filled the large hall, and
the variety of music was especially enjoyed by the large number of young
people who attended.
A special performance by Ansamblul “Romanasul” brought smiles to the
faces the entire audience as they re-created a village Martisor
celebration and engagement! We look forward to the “Nunta” (wedding) in
the coming months! Diaconeasa Ramona Pop should be commended for
directing the performance!
Complimentary ‘martisoare’ were offered to everyone, and were received
with great enthusiasm. Special thanks to Mrs Aurica Tipa who voluntarily
made some 300 individual pieces again this year! Also, our gratitude is
offered to Mrs Florica Babiciu, Mrs Emilia Barbu, Mrs Cezarina Hritcu,
Mr Ioan Sinea, Mrs Paraschiva Sinea, and Livia Sinea who prepared the
fresh “placinte cu branza”. Additional thanks are extended to Marina
Vlad, Gheorghe Babiciu, Dorina Babiciu, Mark Kalugar, Mike Kalugar, Sr,
Lucretia Cucereavii, Cristina Lupu, and Mariana Cucereavii, who assisted
in setting up, working the bar, and attending the entrance table. Your
help was very much appreciated!
Many positive comments were received by parishioners and first-time
guests alike! We are happy to provide these cultural events to a growing
audience, and hope that more parishioners and friends will join us in
the future!
