To the Romanian Orthodox Parishes
of the Great Lakes Region

Reverend Clergy, Young People, and Parish Communities:

Christ is among us! Hristos în mijlocul nostru! This letter is written on behalf of the young people of Detroit’s Saint George Cathedral, to our fellow Romanian Orthodox peers in the Great Lakes region. With the cooperation of our clergy and advisors, we invite you to “FAITH, HERITAGE, FAMILY”, a Spiritual and Social Weekend for Romanian Orthodox Youth and Young Adults. This unique event will take place at the Cathedral on October 29-30, 2011. A schedule is shown below.

It is no secret that too often our Faith and Heritage are put aside for things that may seem more important. The busy schedules of our everyday lives make it extremely hard to better know who we are and spend time with one another in a true “church environment”. While some of us may know each other already, we are aware that there are large numbers of teens and young adults in our respective communities that are looking for an opportunity like this to bring these most important facets of life to the forefront. For this reason, we are making a sincere effort to set aside just a couple days in order to come together, meet one another, learn, pray, and enjoy some time together.

There is no charge (with exception of dance admission and travel / hotel) for those participating. It is clear, however, that any minor (under age of 18) is expected to be accompanied by a parent. Families are welcomed, and cordially asked to join in the events of Saturday evening and Sunday.

We thank you for helping us spread the word and hope you will actively encourage any and all teenagers and young adults (20-40 years old) in your parish to join us!

din Regiunea “Great Lakes”

 Prea Cucernici Părinţi, tineri şi membrii,

Hristos în mijlocul nostru! Această scrisoare este scrisă în numele tinerilor de la Catedrala Sfântul Gheorghe din Detroit şi este adresată semenilor noştri Ortodocşi Români din regiunea “Great Lakes.” Cu cooperarea clericilor şi a consilierilor noştri, vă invităm la evenimentul "Credinţa, Patrimoniu, şi Familie" - un weekend spiritual şi social pentru tinerii Români Ortodocşi. Acest eveniment unic va avea loc la Catedrală pe data de 29-30 octombrie, 2011.

Nu este un secret faptul că prea adeseori, din nefericire,  credinţa şi tradiţiile noastre sunt înlăturate pentru a fi înlocuite cu lucruri pe care le considerăm mult mai importante. Programele încărcate ale vieţii noastre de zi cu zi ne împiedică să petrecem mai mult timp unii cu altii într-un adevărat “mediu bisericesc.” Deşi unii dintre noi poate ne cunoaştem deja, suntem conştienţi de faptul că există un număr mare de adolescenţi şi tineri în comunităţile noastre care aşteaptă o oportunitate că aceasta prin care să aducă aceste aspecte mai importante ale vieţi în prim plan. Din acest motiv, facem un efort sincer ca pentru doar câteva zile să ne întâlnim, să învătăm, să ne rugăm şi să ne bucurăm împreună.

 Evenimentul este gratis pentru toţi participanţii (cu excepţia celui de sâmbătă seara şi drumul/cazarea) iar minorii (sub 18 ani) trebuie să fie însoţiţi de un părinte. Familiile, de asemenea, sunt binevenite la evenimentele de sâmbătă seara şi duminică.

 Pentru a ne ajuta să plănuim acest eveniment, vă rugăm să ne contactaţi: Carmen Ureche (586 804-0091) sau biroul Catedralei (248 569-4833) pentru a confirma participarea dumneavoastră. Vă mulţumim pentru ajutorul în difuzarea informaţiilor şi sperăm ca toţi tinerii (adolescenţi şi tineri 20-40 ani) din parohiile dumneavoastră să ni se alăture!
